David Matthew Johnson, 49, of Shelbyville, Illinois passed away as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident Monday, July 15 in Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 20 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville with Pastor Mark Sanders officiating. Burial will take place in Findlay Cemetery in Findlay.  Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 19 at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville.   Memorials may be made to the family. David was born  October 8, 1969, in Mattoon, the son of Stanley and Barbara (Cansler) Johnson. David and Michelle Coventry were married November 14, 2000. David worked as a chef at Walt Disney World for 10 years and was currently working in the warehouse at Rural King in Mattoon. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, tractor pulling, comic books, music, movies and spending time with his family.  

Surviving are his wife, Michelle Johnson of Shelbyville; daughters, Jacqueline and Katelyn Johnson of Shelbyville; parents, Stanley and Barbara Johnson of Shelbyville; grandmother, Pauline Boehm of Westervelt; father and mother-in-law, Stephen and Connie Coventry of Shelbyville; brother-in-law, Michael (Chuck Fant) Coventry of Washington, D.C.; nephew, Cole Johnson of Findlay and many aunts, uncles and cousins.  

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Don Johnson; grandmother, Betty Frost and brother, Doug Johnson.
