Jean M. Amos, 85, of Effingham, IL, formerly of Corinth, MS, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.

A prayer service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Monday, June 10 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Jean was born on September 26, 1933, in Chicago, IL, to Frederick and Marie (Kaduk) Paulis. She was united in marriage to Brian W. Amos on August 25, 1958, and he preceded her in death on July 22, 2012.

Jean was an avid bowler, a great cook, and loved gardening. She was very involved in her church, St. James Catholic Church in Corinth, MS, from singing in the choir to caring for their flowers.

Jean is survived by her children, Nathan May of California, Jeffrey (Julie) May of Warsaw, IN, Michael (Rosie Mischler) May of Warsaw, IN, Janine Black of Fort Wayne, IN, Gary (Terri) Amos of Cleona, PA, and Beverley (David) Hess of Effingham; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brothers, Alfred Paulis and Frank Paulis.
