Darrill V. May, 76, of St. Elmo, formerly of Effingham, Illinois, passed away on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27, 2019 at 7:15 a.m.

Memorial services with masonic rites will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 30 with military rites to conclude the service all at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham, Illinois 62401. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until the time of service Thursday evening at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery, Purdin, Missouri.

Darrill was born on January 15, 1943 in Harris, Missouri, to Victor and Edith (Bailey) May. He served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Army and was stationed in Vietnam from 1967-1968. On September 20, 1968, Darrill married Linda Donoho, the love of his life. He had a passion for street rods and enjoyed spending most of his time outdoors. Darrill was affiliated with the Freemasons, the Ainad Shriners, and the Ramblin Relics. He was the co-owner of Wabash Tire & Auto in Effingham, Illinois.

Darrill leaves his wife of 50 years, Linda (Donoho) May of St. Elmo, Illinois; daughters, Shelly (Bob) Graham of Kansas City, Missouri; Vici (Troy) Pattillo of St. Elmo, Illinois; Kasie (Keith) Levitt of Crawfordsville, Indiana; 11 grandchildren, Brooke (John) Mitchell, Coby (Lauren) Greenwood, Gavin (Jenna) Greenwood, Braden Gathe, Jaden Lobmier, Rebeka Levitt, Olivia Pattillo, Noah Graham, Ava Pattillo, Aubree Mesnard, Myra Pattillo; 8 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
