Louise Short, age 89, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 7:22 PM – Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at her home at The Villas of Holly Brook in Newton, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Louise will be held at 1:00 PM – Monday, March 25 at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Virgil Cinsey officiating. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 2 hours before the service. Louise was born on April 12, 1929, in Toledo, Illinois, the daughter of Arthur and Pauline (Ball) Wilkens. She married Carlston Arthur “Carl” Short on November 24, 1949, in rural Wheeler, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on July 2, 2018. Louise was a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Newton, Illinois. Louise enjoyed camping, Spanish weaving, painting, crocheting and quilting.

Louise is survived by: Children – Carla (Jack) Carlson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Thomas (Sheila) Short of Lawrenceville, Illinois; Larry (Beth) Short of Newton, Illinois and Tammy (Bruce) Tucker of Heyworth, Illinois; Grandchildren – Erik Carlson, Brandon (Amy) Short, Tonya Short, Craig (Jennifer) Short, Andrew (Katrina) Short, Donald Short, Bradley Short, Jeffrey Short, Edward Short, Caroline Short, Kate (Jordan) Reiners and Kristen Tucker; and 10 Great Grandchildren.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents, husband Carl and a brother Lowell Wilkens.
