Duon E. Powell, 76, of Effingham, IL, passed away February 17, 2019 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham.

Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Arborcrest Memorial Park in Effingham. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Duon was born on May 12, 1942, in Dearborn, MI, the son of Cecil and Eileen (Croft) Powell. He was united in marriage to Nancy L. Boggs on October 20, 1962, at the First Church of God in Effingham.        

Duon was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. After 30 years, Duon retired from World Color Press in 2004. He had a love of animals. He enjoyed mushroom and mole hunting, as well as fishing. Duon was a great joke teller and had a great love for family and spending time with his grandsons.

Duon is survived by his wife, Nancy Powell; sons, Darren (Tania) Powell and Greg (Angie) Powell; grandsons, Stephen and Benjamin all of Effingham; sisters-in-law, Eva Kluessendorf and Karen Boggs; and many nieces and nephews.    

He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Olen and Opal Boggs; brother-in-law, Johnny Boggs; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Buening.
