Johnny Ervin “John” Smith, 55, of Beecher City, IL, passed away at 7:33 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2019 in HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital, Shelbyville, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, January 19 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00-5:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The family will gather on Tuesday for a graveside service in Gallagher Chapel Cemetery, near Fancher, IL.
John was born on January 17, 1963 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Robert Oliver and Bertha “Joann” (Welton) Smith. He graduated from Cowden-Herrick High School the Class of 1981. John worked for Schrock Cabinet Company in Arthur, IL for several years. He enjoyed fishing, music, hunting for Ginseng and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Joann Smith of Beecher City, IL; brothers, Robert W. Smith (Kelle) of Pana, IL and Ernie O. Smith (Nina) of Lakewood, IL; nieces and nephews, Jeffrey M. Smith (Kerianna), Eric O. Smith, Veronica L. Smith, and Katlin Davis (Brad); great nieces and nephews, Keirnan S. Smith, Alexa Roberts, Kylan Davis and Ellowyn Davis; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
