Margaret ‘Jo’ Powell, 99, of Decatur, formerly of Altamont, died at 1:55 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Fair Havens Christian Village, Decatur.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 11 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Rev. Bill Weaver officiating and burial to follow at Griffith Cemetery, Brownstown. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Margaret Josephine Powell was born on October 9, 1919 in Wirt, Oklahoma to Fred B. and Anna Mae (Depew) Love. She married Charles Snively in 1940 and later married Glen Powell in 1958, and he preceded her in death in 1988. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and VFW Post #7676 Auxiliary, both of Altamont. She was retired from Fayette County Hospital, Vandalia where she was a dietary supervisor from 1955-1985.

Jo is survived by her sons; Charles, Jr. (Sherry) Snively of East Alton and Roger (Sharon) Snively of Macon; daughter, Patricia Ann (Steve) Kahn of Cincinnati, OH; brother, Fred B. Love, Jr. of Owensboro, KY and 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 half-brothers and 2 sisters.
