Eleanor Louise Hilligoss, 86, of Gays, Illinois passed away peacefully at 5:22 a.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at the Shelbyville Manor in Shelbyville, Illinois.

Eleanor was born January 25, 1932, in Whitley Township, the daughter of Wesley “Fratie” and Annabelle (Voegel) Harpster. She and Warren Wilson Hilligoss were united in marriage on June 18, 1950 at the Smyser Christian Church in Gays, Illinois. Warren preceded her in death on November 24, 1992. Eleanor was a homemaker, a member of the Ash Grove Christian Church where she taught Sunday school and she also served as a 4-H leader for many years.

Surviving are her children: Wesley (Debbie) Hilligoss of Gays, Darrell (Libby) Hilligoss of Windsor and Connie (Greg) Harris of Windsor; four grandchildren: Kevin (Emily) Hilligoss of Lovington, Lindsey (Brett) Barnard of Windsor, Kelly (Leroy) Schluter of Sidney and Mitchell (Jenna) Hilligoss of Mattoon; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Beulah Harpster of Sullivan and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and brothers Glen and Delmar Harpster.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 22 at Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor with Reverend Patrick Powers officiating. Burial will take place in Ash Grove Cemetery in rural Windsor. Memorials may be made to the Ash Grove Christian Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor.
