Norma Elaine Browning, 84, of Shelbyville, IL passed away at 9:31 p.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital in Shelbyville, IL.

Norma was born July 28, 1934, in Findlay, the daughter of Carl and Jesse (Turner) Wheeler. She was a graduate of Findlay High School in the Class of 1952. Norma and Benny H. Browning were united in marriage on September 19, 1953 celebrating 65 wonderful years together. Norma worked for the Lake Shelbyville U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 32 years and was often the first voice you heard upon calling the Corps. Norma was an active member of the Shelby Christian Church and a past member of the Findlay and Shelbyville Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading, making her famous cheeseballs for family and friends and following her loved ones on Facebook.

Surviving are her husband, Benny of Shelbyville; son, Jeff (Ginny) Browning of Washington; daughters: Brenda (Joe) Voyles of Tower Hill and Melanie (Rick) Clark of Shelbyville; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; brother, Robert (Ruth) Wheeler of Missouri and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers Harlan and Dean Wheeler and sister Wanda Wade.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 3 at Shelby Christian Church with Pastor Mark Sanders officiating. Burial will take place in Glenwood Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Shelby Christian Church. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday at Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church. Casual attire is requested by the family.
