Earl Eugene Yockey, age 82 of Willow Hill, IL passed away at 12:15 PM Thursday, January 10, 2013 at his home.

Funeral services celebrating Earl’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 13, 2013 at the Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton, IL with Rev Jack Kilburn officiating. Burial will be in the Mound Cemetery east of Willow Hill, IL with full military rites by the Ste. Marie American Legion Post #932. Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 PM Saturday, January 12, 2013 at the funeral home. In loving memory of Earl, memorials may be made to the Willow Hill United Methodist Church.

Earl was born on January 1, 1931 in Jasper County, IL the son of Emma (Miller) Yockey White and Berlyn Yockey. He was united in marriage to Martha Laura Eubank on June 5, 1955 at the Willow Hill United Methodist Church. Earl was a graduate of Oblong High school. He was a United States Army Veteran serving his country in the Korean Conflict.

Earl spent most of his life as a farmer in Jasper County, IL. He was a member of the Willow Hill United Methodist Church, and he served as a trustee of Willow Hill Township for 20 years. He was a former Jasper County Farm Bureau Board Member; a member of the Willow Hill Community Club; and in 1971 he became a member of the Dekalb ‘200 Bushel Club’ for raising over 200 bushels of corn per acre.

Earl is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha Yockey of Willow Hill, IL; a son, Bradley E. (Catherine S.) Yockey of Olney, IL; daughters, Natalie Puntney of Bridgeport, IL and Melanie (Matt) Polston of Lawrenceville, IL; six grandsons, Brandon Yockey; Courtney (Rachel) Yockey; Noah Puntney; Kelly (Molly) Blade; Chauncey Blade; and Wyatt Polston; brothers Warren Yockey of Olney, IL; Floyd (Mildred) Yockey Schererville, IN and Berlyn (Guyla) Yockey of Willow Hill, IL; and sister Mary (Bob) Wolfert of Bradley, IL.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Marisa Yockey, and a brother, Wayne Yockey.
