Bob Chesnut age 90 of Dieterich passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 10, 2018 at the Headyville Christian Church with Pastor Carroll Ross officiating.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Sunday, September 9, 2018 at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton and from 10:00 a.m. Monday until time of service in the church.  Burial will be in the Headyville Cemetery, rural Jasper County, Illinois.

Bob was born on November 29, 1927 in Jasper County, Illinois the son of John and Sylvia (Galloway) Chesnut.  On November 28, 1946, Bob married Ilene Delaney.  She survives.  Bob spent his life as a farmer having raised both grain and livestock.  He was a faithful member of the Headyville Christian Church where he served as deacon, as well as a member of the Jasper County Farm Bureau. In his free time, Bob enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and camping.  He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Bob will be loved and remembered by his wife of seventy-one years Ilene Chesnut of Dieterich, daughter Carla Kruger and husband Wilmer of Dieterich; grandsons Travis Kruger wife Julie of Effingham and Ryan Kruger of Dieterich; great grandchildren Alexander and Kara Kruger and Keaton and Aubree Kruger; sister Betty Jo Miller of Effingham and sister-in-law Doris Chesnut of Newton; and several special nieces and nephews.

His parents, brothers Denny Chesnut, Warren Chesnut, and William Morton Chesnut, brother-in-law Bob Miller and sister-in-law Rosie Chesnut preceded him in death.

Memorial gifts in honor of Bob may be made to the Headyville Cemetery Care Fund.
