Rosalie M. Kemper, 92, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Evergreen Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Effingham, IL.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 25 at St. Paul’s Church in Bible Grove, IL. Burial will be the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Rosalie was born on August 30, 1925, in Dieterich, IL, the daughter of Fred and Clara (Dueker) Heitman. She was united in marriage to Dr. Walter O. Kemper on September 12, 1947. He preceded her in death April 28, 1999. At age 88, Rosalie was the oldest active Episcopalian bookkeeper in the Springfield Diocese at St. Laurence Episcopal Church in Effingham. She volunteered tirelessly for the American Cancer Society. Rosalie worked as the bookkeeper for her husband’s medical practice and worked at the Effingham Mental Health Center in sustaining care. Rosalie was an avid sports fan and attended all the games of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to cook and always enjoyed Thanksgiving. Rosalie was a talented seamstress and liked tending to her flower garden.

Rosalie is survived by her children, Greg (Jane) Kemper of Effingham, Becky (David) Lustig of Effingham, Laura (Randy) Niebrugge of Dieterich, and Mark (Dianne) Kemper of Chicago; grandchildren, Adam (Mary Belle) Wendling, Claire (Dr. Seth) Wasson, Kathryn (Mike) Elder, Dr. Megan Lustig, Connor Niebrugge, Calla (Dr. Stephen) Burd, Jack (Julia) Kemper, and Carly Niebrugge; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Charles Heitman and Albert Heitmann; and sister, Mardell Harris.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Dr. Walter O. Kemper.
