Delores E. Blackmore, 85, of Effingham, IL, passed away on July 20, 2018 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham, with her family by her side.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Home, 1110 N. Fourth Street, Effingham, IL. Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. in Friends Creek Cemetery in Argenta, IL. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Delores was born on November 9, 1932, in Montrose, IL, the daughter of Fred and Ella (Berry) Hutton. She was united in marriage to Dwight Gruenewald in 1950 and to this union were born four children: William, Robert, Marita, and Sharon. She later married Marvin Blackmore in 1975, and he survives.

Delores was a woman of great faith and left a faith-based legacy. She loved serving the Lord. She was a licensed practical nurse and spent several years working as a dental assistant. She was a very caring person who helped her family when needed. Delores enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, always ready to play board games. She made the best apple pies and enjoyed canning vegetables from the garden. Over the years she had several cats with Boots being one of her favorites. 

Delores is survived by her husband, Marvin Blackmore of Effingham; four children, William Gruenewald of Effingham, Robert (Linda) Gruenewald of Forsyth, Marita (Don) Kirchhofer of Condon, MT, and Sharon (Joe) Holmes of Claremore, OK. She was also an awesome mother to Marvin’s five children, Robyn (Shawn) Brown of St. Charles, MO, Doris (Don) Feltham of Tulsa, OK, Timothy (Lisa) Blackmore of Ormond Beach, FL, John (Laura) Blackmore of Sullivan, MO, and Lynda (David) Vaughn of Robinson, IL. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Gerald (Dorothy) Hutton of Iuka and Kenneth Hutton of Delano, TN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandchildren, Clay Michael Thornton (Sharon’s son), Kelly Feltham, Mindy Brown; and sister-in-law, Johnie Hutton.
