Solomon E. Githinji, age 69 of Farina, passed away, at 9:42 am, Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Solomon was born Tuesday, August 10, 1948, the son of Eliud Muriithi and Mary Muthoni Muriithi. He was united in marriage
to Connie Githinji on August 27, 1983 in Nairobi, Kenya.
He graduated with a Business Administration and Management Degree from Eastern Illinois University in 2009, doing his coursework at SIU Edwardsville, Kaskaskia College and he University of Nairobi. He worked in the hospitality industry, was general manager at Travel Time Safaris in Kenya, Marketing Manager at Siemens AG in Nairobi, Kenya and Administrative Officer at Hughes Ford in Nairobi. Solomon served on the Board of Directors of Blue Shield Insurance in Kenya and the Midland Area Agency on Aging Advisory Board in Illinois. He was known and loved by people all over the world. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother. His friendly and joyful spirit will be missed by many.
Solomon is survived by his wife Connie; daughters, Susan Githinji and Ann Margaret Githinji; brothers, Robert Ngunyi, Charles Njoroge and Robert Murage, sisters, Susan Njambi and Ann Margaret Waceke; and grandchild Jumaane Jerome Bey Jr.
He was preceded in death by his daughters Rosemary and Nadene Githinji; brothers Samwel Macharia and Moses Kariuk; sisters, Janet Wanjiru and Ann Margaret Waceke.
Arrangements are entrusted to Neal Funeral Home in Kinmundy. They will receive family and friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at the Farina United Methodist Church. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the church with a one hour wake before the service at 1:00. Interment will be in Alma Cemetery, Alma, IL.
