Clara M. Becker, 89, of rural Assumption, IL, died at 11:35 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2018 in HSHS Good Shepherd Hospital, Shelbyville, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 4 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Cliff Hastings officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery in Flat Branch Township. Memorials may be given to the Shelby Extension Foundation. This foundation supports 4-H and Master Gardener programs.

Clara was born on May 26, 1929 in Pana, IL, the daughter of Francis Emery “Frank” and Silva Alma Lingenfelter Lamm. She attended Moweaqua High School. She later went back to school and graduated with the Class of 1955. Clara married Keith Wetzel Becker on August 2, 1946 in Hoxie, AR. She was the bookkeeper for Farm and Home Gas and Fleetwood Oil both in Moweaqua, IL and later for Assumption Co-Op in Assumption, IL. Clara was also the Flat Branch Township Clerk retiring in 2008, where she worked on the Township Annual Reports for over 50 years. She was a member of the Moweaqua Christian Church, Red Hats of Pana, IL and Shelby County Home Extension. She was a Master Gardener and enjoyed gardening and canning.

She is survived by her sons, Fred Becker and wife Mary of Tower Hill, IL and Bain Becker of Patoka, IL; daughter, Judy Hastings and husband Dave of Paxton, IL; sister, Frances Alma Jackson of Macon, IL; seven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Keith on June 8, 2009; three brothers; and three sisters.
