Thomas B. “Tom” Weishaar, 68, of Wheeler, passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 1 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Island Grove, with military rites. Burial will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorial donations may be given to Whitetails Unlimited of Effingham. Tom was born July 16, 1949 in Wheeler, the son of Alphonse “Fritz” and Frieda (Probst) Weishaar. He served with the United States National Guard from 1969 to 1975. Tom joined the Dieterich American Legion Post #628 in 1975 and served as Past Commander. He received his 16 gallon pin as a blood donor for the American Red Cross. Tom enjoyed making wine from the fruit he had grown. He was a farmer and an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Bow Hunters Club and was a precision marksman with his bow, earning himself the nickname “Bow Hunter”.

Tom is survived by his daughter, Amanda and grandson, Hunter Thomas of Effigham; brother, Louis (Jo) and Rich, both of Effingham; sisters, Martha (Tom) Buerster of Wendelin and Madonna (Dan) Patton of Effingham.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and life-long hunting buddies, Reynold Redman and Floyd Pagel.
