Melvin Eugene Kramer, age 79, of Farina, Illinois passed away at 6:35 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2018 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

Funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. Friday, May 11 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Kinmundy, Illinois. Father Carol LoPresti will be officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Kinmundy, Illinois. A Rosary will be said at 4:30 p.m. with visitation to follow from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials may go to Farina Fire and Ambulance, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church or the donor’s choice.

Melvin was born on February 12, 1939 in LaClede Township, Illinois, the son of Raymond and Florence (Schatz) Kramer. He married Marilyn Phillis Sigrist on February 15, 1958 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Kinmundy, Illinois (Formerly known as St. Philomena Catholic Church). He was a member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, which he helped build as a teenager. He was a member of the American Angus Association, the Illinois Angus Association, the Arctic Circle Club, several other livestock organizations, and an active member of the Soil and Water Conservation District. He was a lifelong farmer, and always enjoyed showing livestock- especially Angus cattle, camping, hunting and fishing, traveling and was an avid Cardinals baseball fan.

Melvin is survived by his three sons, Marvin Kramer (wife Vickey) of Farina, Illinois, Keith Kramer (wife Denise) of Farina, Illinois, Bruce Kramer (wife Kay) of Missoula, Montana; three daughters, Kathleen Harms (husband Dave) of West Chicago, Illinois, Judy Hinshaw (husband Dan) of Secor, Illinois, Alicia Miller (husband Marcus) of Forrest, Illinois; brother, Wayne Kramer (wife Rita) of Farina, Illinois; 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Florence Kramer; wife, Marilyn Kramer; two brothers, Clarence Kramer and Kenneth Kramer.
