Catherine A. Westendorf, 87, of Effingham, IL, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 1 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham, IL. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m.to 7:00 p.m. followed by a 7:00 p.m. rosary Monday, at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Schools or donor’s choice.

Catherine was born on June 28, 1930, in Effingham County, IL, the daughter of Clem and Josephine (Feldhake) Vogt. She was united in marriage to Vincent Westendorf on June 2, 1954 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham. Catherine was a cook at St. Anthony Schools for twenty-four years. She loved to quilt and crochet. She also enjoyed making baptismal gowns for the church over the years. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of Americas. Catherine was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

Catherine is survived by her husband of 63 years, Vincent Westendorf of Effingham; children, Marlene, deceased, (Don) Ochs of Newton, Barbara (Terry) Key of Montrose, Bob (Jan, deceased) Westendorf of Effingham, Jerry (Diane) Westendorf of Effingham, and David (Paula) Westendorf of Teutopolis; 21 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Stella Westendorf of Effingham, Anna Ruholl of Teutopolis, Bernard Vogt of Effingham, Clem Vogt of Effingham, and Paul (Marcella) Vogt of Effingham.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter; one daughter-in-law; sister, Sr. Mary Ann Vogt; brother, Clarence “Bud” Vogt; and great-granddaughter, Grace Schorman.
