Barbara Jean Taylor, 84, of Shelbyville, passed from her temporary residence on this earth to her eternal home in heaven on Thursday, April 19, 2018.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 28 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Shelbyville with Pastor Jan Lawson officiating.  Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Barbara will be laid to rest next to her husband, Gilbert and son, Gary in Glenwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 1300 W. South 3rd Street, Shelbyville, Illinois 62565. 

Barbara was born on June 24, 1933 in Findlay, Illinois, the daughter of Levi and Rose (Godwin) Armstrong. She married Gilbert Taylor on October 10, 1953 in Mississippi. He preceded her in death on October 21, 2008. Barbara enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune, bowling, gardening, solving puzzles and spending time with her children and grandchildren.  

Barbara is survived by her son, Ronnie (Karen) Taylor of Shelbyville; daughter, Janice (Roger) Koss of St. Joseph, Illinois; son, Brad of Shelbyville; daughter, Connie (Bill) Roesch; daughter, Mary Jane (Ernie) James; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Levi and Rose; husband, Gilbert; son, Gary; four brothers and one sister.  

The family wishes to thank Sarah Bush Lincolnland Hospice for the wonderful care that they provided to keep Barbara comfortable during her final days.
