Martha A. Mathis, 83, of Strasburg, formerly of Shelbyville and Mattoon, IL, died at 5:20 a.m. Thursday, April 12, 2018 in Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, Mattoon, IL.

A memorial service to celebrate Martha’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 15 in Strasburg United Methodist Church in Strasburg, IL. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Sunday in the church. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to the Strasburg United Methodist Church or Strasburg American Legion Auxiliary #289 Liberty Unit.

Martha was born on November 17, 1934 in Strasburg, IL, the daughter of Charles Rudolph and Mamie (Morgan) Rosine. She was a member of the first graduating class of Stewardson-Strasburg High School in 1952. Martha was a babysitter for over 15 years. She was a member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church and a 50+ year member of Strasburg American Legion Auxiliary #289 Liberty Unit. She married Wiley S. Mathis on April 1, 1956.

She is survived by her three daughters, Treva Bradd (Mike) of Mattoon, IL, Twila Romoser (Rick) of Orlando, FL and Thalia Roley (Kurt) of Strasburg, IL; brother, Eugene Rosine (Ruth) of East Peoria, IL; nine grandchildren, Kyle Bradd of Park Ridge, IL, Kourtney Bradd of Champaign, IL, Kaitlyn Bradd of Urbana, IL, Lucas Romoser of Orlando, FL, Jacob Romoser of New York, NY, Adaire Zalman of Stewardson, IL, Alyssa Kreke of Strasburg, IL, Abby Warden of Farina, IL and Calla Roney of Strasburg, IL; and seven great grandchildren, Andy and Lauren Bradd both of Park Ridge, IL, Abree and Karlee Zalman both of Stewardson, IL, Gabrielle Cushman of Farina, IL, Wesley Warden of Farina, IL and Hollie Kreke of Strasburg, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Rosabelle Mathis and Marilyn Schultz; two brothers, Charles J. Rosine and William “Bill” Rosine; and two great grandchildren, Zakery Kreke and Paislee Zalman.
