Oka Mae Dasenbrock (87) of Effingham

Oka Mae Dasenbrock, 87 of Effingham, went to live with the Lord at 1:46 a.m. Monday, February 19, 2018 surrounded by her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 22 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorial donations may be made to St. Anthony Schools.

Oka Mae was born February 18, 1931 in Shelby County, the daughter of Samuel and Lelah (Blue) Bivins. She married Donald George Dasenbrock on August 22, 1953 and he preceded her in death in 2010. She was employed as secretary at St. Anthony High School for 31 years. Oka enjoyed bowling, lunch outings with friends, but what brought her the most joy was visits from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Oka Mae is survived by her sons, Doug (Sharon) Dasenbrock and Dan (Deb) Dasenbrock, both of Effingham; daughters, Debbie (Dennis) Sandschafer and Denise (John) Lin, both of Effingham and Donna (Richard) Flaherty of Owensboro, KY; grandchildren, Brian (Jamie) Sandschafer, Jason (Natasha) Sandschafer, Lucas (Rachel) Sandschafer, Erin (Jordan) Carlock, Jade and Delaney Flaherty, Marissa (Jase) Taylor, Monica (Zach) Scott, Jarod Lin, Matt (Shelby) Dasenbrock, Michelle and Mitchell Dasenbrock and Ashley (Mark) Westendorf; great-grandchildren, Noah Sandschafer, Trenton, Logan, Dylan Sandschafer, Harper and Hattie Sandschafer, Tanner and Millie Carlock, Jaxsyn, Owen and Everly Taylor, Cora Dasenbrock, Everett and Emmett Westendorf; siblings, Harry Bivins, Carol (Ray) Blythe, Sam Bivins and Emma Lee Gordon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Ralph, Ivan, Charles Bivins and sisters, Delores Kuhns and Kay Blythe.
