Rita Tucker, 71, of Effingham died at 10:20pm Thursday, February 8, 2018 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 11, at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont, with Kevin Knierem officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. Memorials may be made to the donors’ choice.

Rita was born on Sunday, April 28, 1946 in Effingham to the late Joseph and Cecilia Milbachler Buening. She married Kenneth Tucker on February 5, 1965 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Effingham, and he survives. In addition to being a homemaker she had previously been employed at the Effingham Daily News and Vantage Technology.
In addition to her husband, Rita is survived by sons, Brian (DeeDee) Tucker, Altamont and Jason (Monica) Tucker, Oxford, IN; sisters Judy (Dave) Gardewine and Carol (Tom) Rohr, Effingham; grandchildren, Zach, Taylor and Justin Tucker.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth and James Buening.
