Robert “Maynard” Bryan, 77 of Willow Hill, IL passed away on Sunday February 4, 2018 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Celebration of Maynard’s Life will be held at 11:00am Friday February 9 at Pulliam Funeral Home Oblong, IL. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery. Visitation will be 10:00am until time of service. The family requests that an expression of sympathy may take the form of a contribution to Mound Cemetery with envelopes available at the funeral home or mailed to Pulliam Funeral Home P.O. Box 121 Oblong, IL 62449.

He was born in Louisville, IL on February 6, 1940 to Charles Wayne Bryan and Goldie Mae (Sparks) Bryan. Ethel Spohn became his foster mother when he was six days old. On May 16, 1958 he married Betty Lou Wendel, who preceded him in death on October 11, 2011. Maynard worked at Briggs Pottery in Robinson, IL in quality control for 40 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of the Hunt City Congregational Christian Church, attended school in Oblong and Newton. He loved to travel with Betty, especially to Branson, MO. He enjoyed Go Karts, watching NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt Jr., fishing and watching the geese on his pond with the grandchildren and operating his H.O. Trains.

He is survived by two sons Robert Allen Bryan, Olney, IL, Kevin and Penny Bryan, Paris, IL; three daughters Rhonda and Mark Spitzer, Dietrich, IL, Kimberly and Greg Allard, Noble, IL and Katharina and Rod Levitt, Crawfordsville, IN; twelve grandchildren and several great grandchildren.  Maynard is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law Fred and Mary Bryan, Shipman, IL; three sisters Nina Marie Etter, Oklahoma, Anna Belle Eller, Colorado , and Viola May Nurmi, Michigan, along with several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, granddaughter Erica Spitzer and several brothers and sisters.
