Harold Edward Kocher, age 84, of Newton, Illinois, passed away 4:22 AM - Monday, January 22, 2018, at Newton Care Center in Newton, Illinois.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM – Saturday, January 27 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois, with Fr. Dean Probst celebrating mass. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM – Friday at the church and ½ hour before the mass in church. In loving memory of Harold, memorials may be made to the Jasper County Cancer Fund PO Box 333 Newton, Illinois 62448. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.

Harold was born on December 21, 1933, in Jasper County, Illinois, the son of Henry and Coletta (Ritz) Kocher. He married Clara Bangert on July 9, 1968, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin, Illinois, and she survives. Harold was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #1704, Jasper County Farm Bureau and the Holy Name Society. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends and was “PaPa” to many.

Harold is survived by: Wife of 49 years – Clara Kocher of Newton, Illinois; Children – Nancy (Gary) Lindemann, Jeff (Yvonne) Kocher and Scott (Angie) Kocher and all of Newton, Illinois and Amy (David) Stewart of Effingham, Illinois; Grandchildren – Dusty Lindemann (Fiancé Chelsea Presley) of Newton, Illinois; Ryan Kocher (Fiancé Elizabeth Rich) of Newton, Illinois; Natasha (Lucas) Russell of Oblong, Illinois;; Jacob Lindemann of Newton, Illinois; Marlee Kocher of Newton, Illinois; Josie Lindemann of Newton, Illinois; Kayla and Kyle Kocher of Newton, Illinois; Kaiden and Brendan Stewart of Effingham, Illinois; Great Grandchildren – Sophia and Brantley Kocher of Newton, Illinois; Sisters - Virginia Ochs of Newton, Illinois; Arlene Gumbel of Ingraham, Illinois and Carolyn (Jim) Blank of Olney, Illinois; Brother-in-law – Louis Ochs of Newton, Illinois; Sister-in-law – Marilyn Kocher of Newton, Illinois; Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, brother Harlan Kocher and a sister Gloria Ochs.
