Paul Dennis Hardiek, age 60, of Dieterich, Illinois, passed away at 12:35 PM - Friday, January 5, 2018, at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM – Tuesday, January 9 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois, with Fr. Dean Probst celebrating mass. Burial will be in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Dieterich, Illinois. Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 PM – Monday at the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois. In loving memory of Paul, memorials may be made to the local cancer support organizations or donor’s choice.

Paul was born on March 22, 1957, in Effingham, Illinois, the seventh child of Gerald “Bud” and Luella “Babe” (Hutmacher) Hardiek. Paul worked for United Supplier for many years and was currently employed by The Equity. Paul was of the catholic faith and had been a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dieterich. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and trains. Paul volunteered for 20 years as a firefighter and member of the Dieterich Fire Department.

Paul is survived by: Siblings – Geri (Jag) Woods, Mary Lynn (Larry) Carroll, Kara (Ron) Geier and Matthew (Carol) Hardiek all of Newton, Illinois; Patty (Greg) Garbe of Bloomington, Illinois; Joe (Shelia) Hardiek, Larry (Marie) Hardiek, Mark (Brenda) Hardiek all of Dieterich, Illinois; Christy (Gary) Harder and Steve Hardiek of Effingham, Illinois. Aunts – Kay Hardiek of Dieterich, Illinois; Marge Utz of Lakewood, Colorado; and Barbara (Jack) Harrigan of Spring Lake, New Jersey. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Tracey, nephew Christopher Hardiek and sister-in-law Linda Marie Hardiek.
