Eileen W. Tanner, 91 of Stewardson, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.

Private services will be held with burial in Stewardson Cemetery, Stewardson. Memorial donations may be made to the Stewardson United Methodist Church, Parkinson’s Foundation or to the donor’s choice.

Eileen was born July 19, 1926 at home on the farm where she resided, the daughter of Charles M. and Velma M. (Huffmaster) Moran. She married John Lowell Tanner on November 11, 1949 at the Presbyterian Church in Mattoon. Eileen was a member of the Stewardson United Methodist Church in Stewardson. She worked for General Electric in Mattoon for approximately 5 years and later provided day care at her home to many area families for over 25 years.

Eileen is survived by her husband of 68 years, John of Stewardson; three daughters, Sheryl Bartels of Effingham, Linda Tanner of Drumright, OK and Sandra (Ken) Kuhn of Effingham; granddaughters, Miranda (Adam) Vortman of Bluffs and Jennifer (Scott) Sporleder of Farina; five great-grandchildren, Leighton, Tanner, Lillian and Trenton Sporleder and Blake Vortman; sisters-in-law, Ruth Nugent of Mesa, Arizona, Janet Moran of Omaha, Nebraska and Ruth Moran of Effingham; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews also survive.

Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Melva Kessler; brothers, Herbert, Ervin, Donald and Russell Moran.
