Gary G. Sohn, 61 of Greenville, passed away at 7:51 P.M. Saturday, October 27th at his home.
Memorial funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville with Darryl Bolen officiating. Interment will be in Mt.Auburn Cemetery. For those who desire memorials may be made to the Greenville First Christian Church or the Bond County Home Health and Hospice.
Gary G. Sohn, the son of Renick Gail Sohn and Joy M. Diekmeyer Sohn, was born on April 28, 1951 in Highland. He grew up on the Sohn farm south of Greenville and attended theSmithboro Elementary School and graduated from Mulberry Grove High School with the class of 1969. He attended ITT College in Indiana, then served in the Army National Guard in Effingham from 2-9-1971 until 2-9-1977 rising to the rank of Sergeant. Gary worked for Van Tran Electrical in Vandalia. He then farmed both dairy and livestock with his father Renick. In 1985 he began grain farming and continued that until the present day, also working for Wilke Trucking Service in St. Rose for the past 9 years.
Gary and Peggy J. Thacker were united in marriage on October 3, 1970 at the Mulberry Grove United Methodist Church and have enjoyed forty two years together. She survives as do their three daughters: Tara (Terry) Marcordes of Chatham, Kimberly (Stuart) Snow of rural Greenville and Carissa Ross of rural Greenvile. They are also survived by five grandchildren: Grant Marcordes, Addison Marcordes, Carter Snow, Logan Snow and Brandon Ross.
Gary is a member of the Illinois Farm Bureau, an active coon hunter and a member of the Greenville First Christian Church.
