Mary Ann Mentzer, 59, of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, formerly of Decatur, Illinois, died Thursday morning, September 27, 2012 at Essa Flory Hospice Center.

Funeral services are Thursday, October 4 at 11 a.m. in the Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 2155 N. Oakland Ave., Decatur with the Rev. William K. Abbott and the Rev. Brock Abbott of Decatur officiating. She was born October 8, 1952, in Shelbyville, the daughter of Dean and Jeanette (Handley) McAllister. Mary Ann married Leon R. Mentzer and together they celebrated their 31st anniversary June 26, 2012. Leon and Mary Ann moved to Lancaster, Penn. in October 2011.

Mary Ann graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1974 with a degree in computer science, and she worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue in Harrisburg. She attended the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Lancaster and was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church of Decatur, where she was a 14-year member of the bell choir. Mary and Leon were co-founders of, in 2004. She enjoyed crocheting afghans and traveling, especially on cruises, while Leon held, " Seminars on the Water ".

Mary will be remembered by her husband Leon; her twin sons, Justin E. (wife Maroa) Mentzer of Maroa and Joshua A, Mentzer of Decatur; her bassets, Cassie and Maddie, and her brothers, James Handley of Chicago and Robert (wife Barbara) McAllister of Windsor.
