Eileen C. Steppe (79) of Effingham

Eileen C. Steppe, 79, of Effingham, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 27, 2012 at St. Anthony of Padua Church in Effingham. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 26 at the church, with a 7:30 p.m. parish wake service. Burial will be in the Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery in Dieterich. Memorials may be made to Effingham Unit 40 Mentoring Program or St. Anthony Schools.

Eileen was born on September 24, 1932 in Dieterich, the daughter of Lawrence and Elsie (Westendorf) Probst. She married John Steppe on May 31, 1955 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Dieterich. He preceded her in death on November 14, 1997.

Eileen was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church in Effingham. She had worked previously at Crossroads Press as a bindery supervisor.

Survivors include 2 sons; Mark (Jill) Steppe and Tom (Debbie) Steppe of Effingham. 3 daughters; Jan (Chuck) Schuette of Effingham, Paula (Marty) Pulley of Mt. Vernon and Nancy (Nick) Bushur of Effingham. 12 grandchildren; Chris and Nick Schuette, Jenny (Kurt) Kabbes. Adam, Alex and Jaclyn Steppe. John and Lane Steppe. Eric and Amy Pulley. Rachel and Melissa Bushur. 3 great-grandchildren; Skylar & Natalie Schuette. Max Schuette and sister; Esther Mathy of Effingham.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, sister, Margie Lustig and brother, Allen Probst.
