Paul Louis Hofreiter (90) of Dalton City

Paul Louis Hofreiter, 90, of Dalton City, IL passed away at 10:36 a.m. on April 23, 2012 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday April 25th 2012 at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo, IL. Visitation will be from 9:00 to service time at the funeral chapel. Burial with full Military Rites will be in the Janesville Cemetery.
Paul was born in Pekin, IL the son of John & Francis (Kabel) Hofreiter on May 16, 1921. He married Albreta Plummer on December 15, 1951 in Covington, IN, and she preceded in him in death on February 19, 2005. Surviving is a son Paul Daren Hofreiter of Dalton City, IL; two granddaughters Darby Hofreiter and Carly Hofreiter both of Dalton City, IL.
Paul proudly served his country in the Army during World War II. He was with 312th combat engineers attached to General Patton’s 3rd Army, during many battles and at the Battle of the Bulge. For his service he received 2 Bronze Stars and a Silver Star. Paul worked as a Steamfitter and was a member of Plumbers & Pipe Fitters Union Local 65 in Decatur, IL for 70 plus years. He was a member of the Bethany American Legion.
