Florence Lange, 84, of Altamont died at 2:50pm Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, St. Peter, Rev. William Emrick and Rev. Dr. James Wright officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 PM Tuesday at Pagel Funeral Home, St. Peter and 1 hour at church prior to service time. Memorials are requested to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Altamont Immanuel Lutheran Church, or American Heart Assn.

Florence was born on October 30, 1927 the daughter of William and Clara (Schnake) Hinrichs. She married Carl O. Lange on April 21, 1946 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, rural Shobonier and he preceded her on October 19, 2003.  She was a homemaker and retired Postmaster of the Loogootee Post Office serving from 1979-1999. She was a member of the St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and had recently been attending Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont. Florence loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, cooking, baking, and visiting with friends either in person or over the phone. She was a loving mother and grandmother.

Surviving are her son, Brian (Kristi) Lange of Altamont; daughters, Donna (Stan) Kuhns of Decatur, Patricia (Michael) Niehaus of Lake Sara, and Charlotte Gillett of Bloomington; brother, Paul (Bernice) Hinrichs of Vandalia, sister; Luella Lange of Decatur; 9 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Arthur in infancy.
