Otis Parkison, 91, of Brownstown died at 2:15pm Sunday, August 5, 2012 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 10, 2012 at Liberty Christian Church with Jim Dann officiating. Visitation will be for two hours prior to the service. Private family burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to Friendship Manor Activity Fund or the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.giesekingfh.com. Otis was born on February 16, 1921 in rural Brownstown to Ferdinand A. and Vernie (Sefton) Parkison. He married Martha June Fletcher on February 18, 1941 and she preceded him in death in 1986. He then married Lenore (Childress) Smith on March 4, 1989. He was a retired farmer and attended Liberty Christian Church, Brownstown.

He is survived by his wife, Lenore of Brownstown; daughters; Patsy (Ron) Tretter of Steeleville, Rosalie Tackett of Boca Raton, FL, Deanna Carlock of Sullivan, Louise (Steve) Morrison of Beecher City and Penny Parkison of Dallas, TX, his son; Paul (Deb) Parkison of Brownstown, his brother; Revis (Delores) Parkison of Irving, TX, his sisters; Fleta Austin of Brownstown and Vivian (Roy)
Olive of Florissant, MO, his stepchildren; Carolyn (John) Grames, Terry (Susan) Smith, Barbara (Dave) Morrison, all of Brownstown, Lois (Wendell) Stoneburner of Beecher City, Bill (Cathy) Smith and Lola (Keith) Gehle both of Brownstown, Mary (Stanley) Salmons of St. Elmo, Gary (Diana) Smith and Brian (Marsha) Smith both of Brownstown, 14 grandchildren, 24 step-grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 39 step great grandchildren, and 3 step great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, stepson, Kevin Smith and 2 step great grandchildren.
