Shirley Ann Meek, 86, of Trowbridge, Illinois, passed away at 3:55 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2014, in the Carle Foundation Hospital of Urbana.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 2 in the St. Mary Of The Assumption Church of Neoga, with Fr. Sunder Ery and Sr. Pat Thies officiating. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, in the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, with a 5:30 p.m. Rosary conducted by the Ladies Sodality at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the St. Patrick Cemetery of Trowbridge, Illinois. Memorials may be made to St. Mary Of The Assumption Church of Neoga, or to the donor's choice. Online condolences may be left at

Shirley was born December 14, 1927, the daughter of Clayton and Pauline F. (Hopper) Doll. She and her family owned and operated the Doll's Grocery and Propane Company of Trowbridge, for several years. She was a member of the St. Mary Of The Assumption Church of Neoga and the St. Mary's Ladies Sodality of Neoga. She was an Election Judge of Big Spring Township for several years, and a member of THEOS of Mattoon. Shirley was also Camp Secretary for 57 years for the Modern Woodmen Chapter # 8061. She enjoyed Modern Woodmen social activities and playing Bingo, cards and Bunco. Her greatest joys were her family and friends. Shirley married James E. Meek, June 21, 1958, in Trowbridge, Illinois and Jim passed away June 19, 2012.

Shirley leaves one daughter, Kathleen Walk and husband Randy of Trowbridge; two grandchildren, Jennifer Schlichting and husband Adam of Iowa City, IA and Krista Galvin and husband Jerry of Chicago; two great grandchildren, Henry and Maddie Schlichting of Iowa City, IA. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim Meek; two brothers, Jack Doll and Robert Doll.
