Hearthside Cooking Class

Before your gas or electric range; before the coal or wood fired stove, there was the hearth. The interpreters at Lincoln-Sargeant Farm near Charleston will help you explore the seasonality of cooking in the 19th century, what foods were available at different times of the year and what were popular menu items for the table Saturday, April 20. Then they will guide you through all the preparations for an authentic hearthside meal. Registration fee is $25 per person and it's limited to 20 individuals.

The farm is located eight miles south of Charleston at 402 S. Lincoln Highway Rd., Lerna. For more information, phone 217-345-1845.
