Effingham resident Scott Mathy will be appearing as a contestant on the hit CMT television show, "The Singing Bee" this Friday night.

The object of the show is to fill in the blanks when lyrics of popular songs are sung.  Mathy said he is always singing along with country music songs while driving around town and a couple of his buddies told him he should try out for the show.  So he did.

Mathy flew to Los Angeles in February...the first time he'd ever flown...to try out for the show and made it.  The show airs at 7pm.

Here's an interview Greg Sapp conducted with Scott Mathy about his appearance on "The Singing Bee"....

Scott can't tell anyone how he did, not even his mom and dad, Pam and Mike Mathy.  He did say, though, that he had a blast.  In his words, "I'd do it again in a heartbeat."

Mathy works as a nuclear medicine technologist at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson.  He graduated from St. Anthony High School and Kaskaskia College before completing his degree at the College of DuPage.
