Altamont school board members Monday approved a four-year collective bargaining agreement with the Altamont Educational Support Personnel Association, representing support staff employees of the district.

A vote on a Memorandum of Understanding with the Altamont Education Association did not pass, though. The vote on the referendum, involving teachers in the district, ended in a 3-3 tie, with board member Martin Reyes absent, so the matter failed.

Board members heard from Altamont City Council member Mike Walker about a park project proposal.

In personnel matters, the Altamont board employed Jennifer Marxman as a 4th grade teacher, Benton White was hired as a custodian, Chelsea Tonn was hired as district nurse, Kayla Pontious was employed as Unit secretary, Megan Burrus was named junior high softball assistant coach, Rob Zumbahlen was hired as high school golf coach, Lily Russell was hired as a high school Social Science teacher, Wayne Bloemer's resignation as 5th grade teacher was accepted, and Bryce Simcox was approved as a volunteer speed and agility coach for multiple high school sports. The proposal is a collaborative project with the City of Altamont to make possible upgrades to Gilbert Park. The City is asking the District to pledge funds toward the project.

Altamont board members heard from Coach Deadmond about the boys and girls high school track state qualifiers. The Board also renewed its commercial insurance bid, and approved an amended budget for the current fiscal year.
