Fire Damages Unit at Cloverleaf Motel; No Injuries

Fire did damage to a unit at Cloverleaf Motel in Effingham Thursday evening.

Effingham firefighters were called at 6:42pm. Fire Chief Brant Yochum said the resident of the unit was not home at the time of the fire. The chief said no one was injured in the incident. Crews are still working to determine the cause of the fire, which did spread smoke to several units of the motel.

First estimates of the damage was at $25,000. Effingham city police officers evacuated tenants from all of the units of the motel
