An effort known as The Flagman's Mission Continues is ready to assist in honoring the family of Navy Electrician's Mate 3rd Class Charles D. Brown.

EM3 Brown was killed in action on board the battleship USS West Virginia during the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

This is a repatriation mission following an extensive process conducted by the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency to identify the remains of fallen heroes.

Brown was an Arcola native and his remains will be returned to Arcola Township Cemetery. A funeral procession will occur at approximately 10am Saturday to the cemetery, followed by a repatriation service at the cemetery.

The Flagman's Mission plans to place flags starting at 4pm Friday, meeting at the Masonic Communty Center at 111 South Locust in Arcola. Flag takedown will begin at 1pm on Sunday.

For more information, contact Jeff Hastings at 618-409-0323.
