Beecher City school board members Monday filled a vacancy on the board.

Jordan Shields, who had served on the Board previously, was appointed to fill the vacancy.

The Board then reorganized. David Doty was chosen Board President, Ryan Schaefer was named Vice-President, and Shields was chosen the Board Secretary.

Board members also voted 5-2 to place the 1% sales tax question on the November election ballot. Shields and Schaefer voted against the motion. The earlier approval by other boards in the county means the question will appear on the November ballot throughout the county.

The Board also voted to accept a base bid from Swingler Construction to renovate the existing restroom facilities, and to replace a sewer line.

Beecher City board members also approved a four-year contract with district teachers beginning this coming school year.

In other action, the Beecher City board approved the sports requisitions for the coming school year; accepted the bid by Atom Integration and accepted a bid from Courtice Grason for asbestos inspection and asbestos abatement.

In other personnel business, the Board approved employing contractual employee Jenna Tedrick as a social worker for the coming school year; accepted the irrevocable letters of retirement from Annette McDaniel and Lisa Schuette as of the end of the 26-27 school year; and accepted a letter of resignation from certified staff member Jenna Rich as of the end of the current school year.
