The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that one north and south bound lane will open in each direction on Henrietta Street as you approach Fayette Avenue beginning Tuesday, April 2.

The current closure of Henrietta Steet from Fayette Avenue south through Edger Avenue will also open on April 2.

As of today, east bound Fayette Avenue traffic will be moved to the new east bound driving lane. West bound traffic will remain on the old west bound lanes. This traffic pattern will remain in effect until after the April 8 eclipse.

On Tuesday, April 9, construction of the center turn lane along Fayette Avenue will begin. During this construction stage, west bound traffic will be down to one lane in the old west bound driving lane. East bound traffic will remain on the new east bound driving lane.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
