Effingham Public Library board members have voted to continue the non-resident participation and Fiscal Year 2025 fee.

The Board switched to the tax bill method of payment. Library Director Amanda McKay said the number of card holders is up 20%.

Board members approved changes to the library's patron conduct policy, specific for smoking materials. Any type of smoking materials is prohibited in the building or within 15 feet of the building.

The Board sent the proposed architect contract with Shumaker Design Associates for the remodeling and expansion of the children's room back to the attorneys for further review. Board members also decided to invest a portion of library funds into a CD to generate interest. The thought is that the funds could be applied against the mortgage on the library.

Board members also heard that library staff is working to retain the case manager program. Grants are being sought and the library is seeking donors to maintain the program, which provides people-helping services at no cost.
