Incumbent Kim Rhodes and challenger Matthew Brown are both seeking the Republican nomination for Effingham County Coroner in Tuesday's primary election.

Rhodes has served as coroner for six years. She had a long career with the Illinois State Police prior to her appointment as coroner to fill out the unexpired term of the late Duane Guffey, then was elected to a full four-year term. Brown works in the Emergency Room at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital as an ER technician and works as a Correctional Officer at the Effingham County Sheriff's Office.

News Director Greg Sapp spoke with Brown and Rhodes this week about why they're running and what they feel are their qualifications for office.
