The culmination of a lot of work, preparation and planning was celebrated Friday morning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Wright Family Center in Dieterich.

The combination community building, fitness center and preschool is located east across the street from the Dieterich school complex. Donations from the community and a grant from the State financed the facility.

Tom Wright, on behalf of the Wright family, said it was a day to celebrate...

The Wright family bought the naming rights for the facility, with that gift providing a big boost financially to the project.

Dieterich Mayor Brad Hardiek said the work of Village Clerk and Economic Development Director Brittny Gipson and local resident Charity Bohnhoff to write for the state grant that covered the majority of the project cost was significant. Hardiek was asked to reflect on how the facility will benefit Dieterich...

Gipson said the project and the cooperative efforts to make it a reality is "absolute proof that dreams come true".

Center Director Traci Bruns said the center is a great facility for people of all ages, with recreational areas for young people, the fitness facility for the community, and the daycare center are huge, along with the various meeting rooms, which can be used separately or jointly depending on the size of the group, gives them a lot of flexibility.
