Teutopolis village board members Wednesday discussed the possible reconstruction of a portion of Pearl Street.

Meetings have taken place on 50/50 grant funding for the work, which would involve concrete paving on Pearl from the four-way stop south to the railroad, then asphalt paving from the railroad south to State Street. Additional grant funding will be sought and some repair work might be needed before the reconstruction could occur.

The Board agreed to ask Village Attorney Tracy Willenborg to contact the property owner at 411 North Plum Street to clean up the property and to remove the trailer on the lot. They also agreed to discuss vacation of a right-of-way on Northern Row Street from Wall to Washington Streets, but agreed that any costs for the work should be borne by the landowner, not the village.

Board members approved the purchase of two easements, one along Race Street, the other along Elm Street. The acquisitions are two of many needed for sidewalk extension work toward the south end of the village.

The Teutopolis board also voted to hire four seasonal employees, 16 years old and older; and voted to authorize Teutopolis for Tomorrow to allow golf carts to be used until midnight on Golf Cart Movie Night on May 31.
