Flora resident Andrew Durbin has been sentenced to 3-1/2 years in prison for a Clay County offense of aggravated battery of a peace officer.

The 26-year-old Durbin was arrested in October for kicking a Clay County sheriff's deputy in the shoulder and neck while the deputy was performing his official duties. Durbin pled guilty on December 6. He will be placed on one year's mandatory supervised release once out of prison.

Clay County State's Attorney Phillip Givens said, "We will continue to support our last enforcement officers. Luckily, our deputy did not end up with any injuries."
