Cumberland School Board Discusses Energy Project

Cumberland school board members approved a Phase 2 project with Veregy at the high school building at this month's meeting.

Veregy has completed a Phase 1 geothermal project at Cumberland.

The Board also approved FFA field trips to Springfield and to Indianapolis, and finalized high school cheerleading procedures as recommended by the district's Athletic Committee.

Board members employed Jonathan Gray as a fulltime bus driver, employed Brian Ervin as a third shift custodian, employed Ginger Scott as a paraprofessional, employed Katelyn Stanciu as a paraprofessional, employed Kade Warner as middle school assistant girls track coach, and employed Blayke Cutts as volunteer high school baseball coach. The Board also accepted the resignation of Traci Becker as assistant high school girls basketball coach, and accepted Eden Niccum's irrevocable letter of retirement at the conclusion of the 2027-2028 school year.

Cumberland board members also heard presentations from Taylor Neal on behalf of the Cumberland School FFA and from Rachel Starwalt on behalf of the Cumberland drama program and their upcoming presentation of "Shrek, Junior".
