Community Foundation Releases Scholarship Information

Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation is now accepting applications for the following scholarships. The deadline to apply is 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. The application link may be found on the Foundation website.

Here are the scholarships available:

ACHS BASEBALL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship supports student-athletes continuing their education. The student must have played baseball for ACHS for at least 2 years including their senior year spring season.

BRUCE V. PENWELL NURSING SCHOLARSHIP

The Bruce V. Penwell, Jr. Nursing Scholarship provides scholarships to residents pursuing a nursing degree in three Illinois Counties: Effingham, Shelby, and Christian.

CROFT BROTHERS CHALLENGE SCHOLARSHIP

The Croft Brothers Challenge Scholarship was created to provide educational opportunities to students with disabilities from any high school in Effingham County.

DELBERT AND MARADYL FACKLAM SCHOLARSHIP

The Delbert E. Facklam and Maradyl T. Hughes Facklam Scholarship was established to provide scholarships for Teutopolis High School graduating seniors.

DIANE SIEMER SCHOLARSHIP

The Diane Siemer Scholarship is open to all GED (General Equivalency Diploma) and Pathways graduates living in Effingham County.

DIETERICH AMERICAN LEGION SCHOLARSHIP

The Dieterich American Legion Scholarship is made possible by the generous members of the past Dieterich American Legion Post 628. The scholarship is for a graduating senior from Dieterich High School planning to attend a two or four-year undergraduate program of study at an accredited college or university.

DIETERICH AMERICAN LEGION TRADES SCHOLARSHIP

The Dieterich American Legion Trades Scholarship is made possible by the generous members of the past Dieterich American Legion Post 628. The scholarship is for a graduating senior from Dieterich High School planning to attend a Career and Technical School or a Trades School Program. Students may attend either full or part-time.

DIETERICH EDUCATION ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIP

The Dieterich Community Education Scholarship was established to provide money for tuition to graduating students from Dieterich High School in Illinois.

EFFINGHAM CHAMBER OF COMMERCE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS

Established for Effingham County high school seniors and adults starting or continuing their education.

ELIZABETH ANN WEIDNER SCHOLARSHIP This scholarship is for high school seniors pursuing secondary education in the areas of health, agriculture or the arts. Established by the friends and family of Elizabeth Ann Weidner.

JACK GRAHAM SCHOLARSHIP

Established for Effingham County graduates seeking a degree in health care, early childhood care or education, or vocational studies.

RAY, MARY AND TIM NIEBRUGGE SCHOLARSHIP

The Ray, Mary and Tim Niebrugge Scholarship was established to help students with financial needs in Effingham County continue their education. Multiple applicants may be awarded as funds are available.

ROY ROBSON AND ROMA JACKSON SCHOLARSHIP

The Roy H. Robson and Roma M. Jackson Nursing Scholarship assists Effingham County graduates seeking a nursing degree.

THOMAS J. EPPLIN HEALTH PROFESSION SCHOLARSHIP

The Thomas J. Epplin Health Profession Scholarship supports students pursuing a minimum degree of Bachelor of Science in dentistry, medicine, optometry, pharmacy, physician assistant, or nursing. The scholarship is available for graduates of St. Anthony High School, Vandalia High School, and Pinckneyville High School.

Applicants must complete the Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation Common Scholarship application, a universal application that determines the applicant’s eligibility for one or more of the Community Foundation’s scholarships. Once submitted, applicants will provide supplemental information for additional applications. Applicants will need a high school or college transcript, ACT or SAT scores (if applicable), and college financial aid information.
