Teutopolis Man Dies Following Medical Emergency

A Teutopolis man has died following a medical emergency.

Effingham County Coroner Kim Rhodes said that Randy Funneman suffered a medical emergency during the noon hour Tuesday, then fell to the ground. Funneman was taken to the Emegency Room at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham where he died at 2:34pm.

Rhodes reported that Rural Med EMS and Watson Fire Protection District firefighters were called at 12:40pm to a residence on 1700th Street in rural Dieterich where the 63-year-old Funneman was found unresponsive. 

Medical records and toxicology samples were obtained by the Coroner's Office. Toxicology test results are expected within 30 days. 

The death remains under investigation by the Effingham County Coroner's Office.
