17-Year-Old Arrested in Fayette County Shooting Death

A 17-year-old male from St. Peter has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a 14-year-old in Fayette County over the weekend.

Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 8 has announced the arrest of the 17-year-old on counts of first degree murder and aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Fayette County Sheriff's Office deputies were called at 8:13pm Saturday to conduct a homicide investigation in St. Peter. The 14-year-old male was shot and killed inside a residence in the 700 block of North 2200th Street.

The 17-year-old is to be formally charged today in Fayette County Circuit Court. He is currently being held in Fayette County Jail in Vandalia.

ISP DCI Zone 8 was assisted by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, Fayette County Coroner, ISP Troop 9 Patrol, and ISP Crime Scene Services.
