Local Couple at Home Recovering from Injuries Received When Struck by Vehicle

A local couple are at home recovering from injuries received when struck by a vehicle while walking in downtown Effingham.

The incident occurred at 6:37pm on Thursday, December 21. Rick and Jeanette Chambers were in the crosswalk at Jefferson and Banker when a vehicle driven by 88-year-old Kenneth Hardiek of Teutopolis turned at the intersection and struck both individuals.

Both Rick and Jeanette Chambers were treated for their injuries, but once again are now recovering at home. Hardiek was not injured, but was cited in the incident.
